Did any air taxis fly at the 2026 World Cup?
Short answer: no — not one commercial passenger eVTOL flight, in any host city. The tournament came and went (June 11 – July 19, 2026) exactly as this tracker projected all spring. The world's only commercial passenger eVTOL service remains in China — Guangzhou, Hefei, and Shenzhen — none of which hosted a match. Below is the final host-city-by-host-city record.

Why no host city had commercial eVTOL in time
The FAA issued the first US eVTOL type certificate (to Joby) in June 2026 — mid-tournament. That is the start of the certification stack, not the finish line. Production certificate and air-operator certificate take additional quarters even after the type certificate is issued. The earliest realistic US commercial passenger seat sale on Joby or Archer remains late 2026 / early 2027 — which is why zero of the 16 host cities had passenger eVTOL during the tournament.
Mexico and Canada were further behind. Mexico has no eVTOL operator certification pathway active (though EHang flew Latin America's first passenger demonstration flights there in May 2026); Canada's Transport Canada has accepted FAA type certificates as a base but commercial passenger ops never made the 2026 calendar.
The world's only commercial passenger eVTOL service today is EHang's: the ¥299 Guangzhou scenic loop, Hefei operations, and Shenzhen — now flying from the world's first automated vertical-lift vertiport in Luohu, with a ¥800 cross-border route to Hong Kong. None hosted a World Cup match. If you want to actually fly an eVTOL this year, the only options are Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
What fans actually used for World Cup transport
Helicopter charter was the premium air option that carried the tournament. Most US host cities had verified operators publishing airport-to-stadium price bands; the per-city pages link out to them. Pricing typically ran $220–$780 per seat depending on distance, with match-day inventory — not price — as the bottleneck. The same corridors remain bookable post-tournament.
For non-air options, official tournament shuttles, MARTA/MBTA/MTA rail, and rideshare covered the bulk of fan transport, with road closures near each stadium beginning roughly three hours before kickoff.
