About Supernal
Supernal, a Hyundai Motor Group company, paused its eVTOL aircraft program in September 2025 following the departure of CEO Dr. Jaiwon Shin and CTO David McBride. The S-A2 aircraft (5-seat, battery-electric) completed tethered test flights at Edwards AFB but never achieved untethered flight. Hyundai is searching for new leadership to "assess optimal timeline." Part of Hyundai's $7.4B smart mobility investment, but no timeline for program resumption has been announced.
