Eve Signs Its First Brazilian Air Taxi Deal With FlyBIS: Routes, Timeline and What It Means - eVTOL.Travel

On November 4, 2026, Eve Air Mobility, the eVTOL company backed by Embraer, confirmed a binding agreement with Brazilian air taxi start-up FlyBIS for up to 12 aircraft: a firm order for 2 and purchase rights for 10 more. The value was not disclosed.

The deal turns a 2022 letter of intent into a contract, but at a smaller size. That letter talked about up to 40 aircraft.

Where FlyBIS wants to fly

FlyBIS plans to start in southern Brazil, linking the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Destinations mentioned include:

RegionPossible destinations
Santa Catarina coastNavegantes, Balneário Camboriú, Florianópolis
Rio Grande do Sul mountainsGramado, Bento Gonçalves

These are popular tourist areas, where a short flight could replace a long drive on busy roads in peak season. No routes, prices or launch dates have been published.

When could you fly?

Not before 2028 at the earliest. Eve's own timeline, reported by AIN:

  • The full-scale engineering prototype has made 73 test flights (just over three hours in the air).
  • In October 2026 it made a partial transition to wing-borne flight at about 45 knots. Eve's CEO said a full transition was about eight flights away.
  • A conforming prototype is targeted to fly in the second half of 2027.
  • Initial type certification is targeted for 2028.

FlyBIS and Eve say they are still working on what is needed to enter service: network planning, operations, infrastructure and links to other transport. Treat any 2028 start as a target, not a booking date.

Why it matters

  • Brazil is one of the strongest eVTOL markets outside the US and China, with heavy helicopter use in São Paulo and a home-grown aircraft maker in Embraer.
  • Firm orders count more than letters of intent. Many early eVTOL "orders" were non-binding. A firm order for 2, even a small one, shows real commitment.
  • Tourist routes, not only cities. FlyBIS is targeting beach and mountain destinations, a model that could suit travelers well.

Can you fly an eVTOL today?

Not in Brazil. Public eVTOL rides are only sold in China today. See eVTOL experiences for what is actually open, or Buy an eVTOL if you want your own personal aircraft.
